This guy, captivated by my biomechanical tattoos, didn’t hesitate to travel all the way from Liguria to discuss his project in person, showing seriousness and determination, qualities I often see in people who are drawn to biomechs. We talked about his wishes, and before starting any design, I invited him to check out my private YouTube playlist, where I showcase my biomech projects animated on 3D arms to give clients a glimpse of the potential final result.
Choosing the Design: Uniqueness and Customization
If he found a design he liked, we could use it, then remove it from the playlist and my catalogue: for me, the uniqueness of a tattoo is an essential part of my philosophy. Since these are projects created without specific requests, I put my very best into them, though they’re open to slight tweaks to meet the client’s desires. At first, he liked them all. He took his time to watch them carefully and later got back to me with his favourite two.
A Colour Challenge: Biomech and Team Spirit
He asked which one would best suit a modification he cared about: adding the colours of his favourite football team. Although I’m not a football fan, I found it intriguing: I was already thinking of adding graphics inspired by race car liveries, so I told him to pick his favourite one. A few days later, he’d made his choice. But as I started working on it, I realized the liveries, instead of adding aggression or appeal, created a chaotic mess of colours that ruined the design’s harmony and readability.
The Solution: A Spectacular Tattoo
I suggested a different approach. Given the almost “automotive” vibe of that biomech tattoo, why not incorporate the team’s colours and logo into a badge, like the ones on sport cars? He loved the idea. I developed the concept, and a few months later we started the project, completed in record time thanks to his determination: he powered through three two-day sessions, a true warrior. The final result is spectacular, unusual, and utterly original. Tattoos like this are rare, and I’m proud to say I created it!
