Almost a second job
One could say that the starting point of my career was when, still a student, I made some money at town fairs making caricatures.
Later on I dusted off this skill on more than one occasion, but I’ve never dedicated myself to this activity as in this last period.
Almost by chance, I joined a couple of Facebook groups where every week they submit a subject to be caricatured. A good way to keep in practice and why not, build an alternative portfolio over time.
From there I got to Caricature Resolution, a group that holds a month-long challenge event every January listing 31 subjects to be caricatured and uploaded by the end of the month.
I decided to join the challenge with the intention of experimenting different styles. A great way to practice, experiment, or a simple warm-up exercise before starting the day’s work. They go from very detailed to more stylized, with processing times ranging from a few dozen minutes to 4 hours of work.
Staying motivated wasn’t easy, also because I have to admit that I didn’t know many of the celebrities proposed this year and some were definitely not so interesting in my opinion.
But I did it and I’m proud of my “experiments”, which you can find in the gallery below 😀
Let me know which one you like best in the comments 😉
