When I was contacted by Leo Burnett Italy a few months ago for a project related to tattoos, I didn’t know what to expect. Being called by one of the most important global advertising agencies, handling communication, creativity, and marketing for major corporations, always makes an impression.
The goal was to design a special edition of Nintendo’s Game Boy Advance SP. The art directors were looking for a tattoo expert and they chose me. It’s great to know that my work is recognized at such a high level; I can’t hide how much this fills me with pride.
It has been months of intense work, study, and compromises to define an aesthetic that could work globally and to find the right name. The final result meets various criteria for simplicity, reproducibility, and brand recognition. I also had the chance to understand aspects of the industry that were new to me, further elevating my professional experience.
Now my drawings decorate the Game Boy Tribal Edition, which will be marketed worldwide. The European launch is scheduled for June 18, 2004.
