The client wanted flowers and butterflies and had brought along reference images that were, to put it kindly, questionable.
After a short conversation about what I could do for her, she decided to trust me and let me design something beautiful.
The first thing I did was set aside everything she had brought. Nothing kills creativity quite like images that arrive almost as instructions. You sketch first, think about composition and design, and only then look for reference material to nail down the details. As one of my teachers used to say: you can’t draw a cow if you’ve never seen a cow.
So I got to work creating something unique. No flat butterflies pinned like specimens in a collector’s case, but wings in motion, in natural positions, to bring the drawing to life. A single flower as the main protagonist.
