Sometimes I’m lucky enough to take pictures of my works once healed, a few months later. In this case, I had to wait two years. So much so that I don’t even remember how many sessions or how much time it took, also because the work was spread over several sessions months apart, between 2011 and 2012.

The tattoo was done entirely freehand to adapt to the client’s arm. He gave me almost free rein; the only non-negotiable element was a gas mask, which was also drawn freehand on the back of the shoulder.

From that object, I immediately imagined a dystopian future, a post-apocalyptic world where mutations are the norm; hence the skull blending with metallic structures and the alien face with mechanical parts, all surrounded by tentacles, tubes, and distorted metallic surfaces. The brain emerges from the skull’s cranial cap, developing on the upper part of the shoulder as if it had come to life, becoming an autonomous organism.

Even two years later, I still like it very much. An excellent composition designed to last and which I am sure will maintain its charm in the years to come.
