The new issue of Skin Deep dedicates page 54 to one of my drawings.
I made it in 2009, during my long trip between Canada and the United States, specifically during the Canadian period. It was born almost by chance, without too many intentions, a way to keep hand and mind trained. One of those exercises where you dig into your mind looking for ideas. Ideas that sometimes come, other times remain sketches or unfinished projects.
During the day, between one break and another, it began to take a direction. I experimented with graphic solutions for waves and clouds, until the idea came to integrate into the waves some very stylized skulls, conceived as a representation of the four horsemen of the apocalypse.
I made it in a simple sketchbook with colored pencils, with the idea of coming back to it sooner or later and building a more defined and elaborate illustration. I never imagined it would end up in one of the most prestigious tattoo magazines in the world.
