black and grey tattoo on a budget, on arm representing a skull with lilies and gladiolus

Affordable Tattoo

This girl had a dream of a colourful and detailed half sleeve. I remember showing her various options, selecting flowers together, working on the composition, the lighting, the framing, and then we got to the costs.

Unfortunately her budget didn’t allow her to do the project she had in mind. So we had to make compromises: scale down the project, drop the colours in favour of black and grey, and focus only on the elements she cared about most, while keeping the budget under control.

The result is this skull surrounded by gladioli and azaleas. The combination is no coincidence: the skull as a memento mori, the flowers as a symbol of fleeting beauty. A classic contrast that always works, perhaps even better in black and grey than in colour. A unique piece that includes what she wanted, made at an accessible price.
