From time to time, when my schedule allows, I enjoy signing up for drawing courses, art seminars, tattoo workshops and the like.
Recently I enrolled in a course with a workload that is, frankly, overwhelming. But that won’t stop me. I’ll work through it at a pace that fits around my commitments and I’ll finish it.
For now I’ve completed one of the first assignments: studying a piece by one of my favourite artists. I chose a legend of 1980s and 90s comics, Simon Bisley, best known for his distinctive style and for works such as Slaine, Lobo, and the Batman album Judgment on Gotham, among many others.
It’s not a perfect copy, the right buttock in particular, but the point is to understand how he works, not to produce a flawless reproduction. I think I’ve done a solid job 😛
