The February issue of Tattoo Italia published a feature dedicated to my KATZ on canvas and on skin.

Since 2004, I have developed a personal artistic language for my paintings. Since almost all my paintings are solo pieces representing cats, I chose the name KATZ to describe them. It’s a style that starts with battered, scratched canvases onto which I spread color and then remove it to recreate the effect of old walls where layers of plaster have been stripped away. Once I achieve the desired result, I paint my cats on them like painted sculptures.

Over the years, these cats have found favor with many clients who have asked for tattoos in this exact style. I have been exhibiting these paintings, sometimes accompanied by prints of the tattoos, in various exhibitions. Seeing a trade magazine dedicate space to them fills me with pride and motivation to continue on this path—at least until I feel the need to experiment with something else! 😀

This is the text of the short article:
«KATZ ON SKIN
Confining Jerry to the role of tattoo artist would be an understatement, especially since his career began in 1992 as a comic artist and illustrator for publishing and advertising.
Since 1994, he has been challenging himself with machines and ink, and in 2004, he began working on his KATZ: surreal cats on canvas and in digital format.
A strong character emerges from his work, one that needs to express itself according to its own standards: “I don’t like catalogs; my ideal client is the one who proposes an idea and gives me free rein to unleash my creativity.”
KATZ is not only an experimental study of the feline figure but also a series of drawings that were first featured in a solo exhibition and then became full-fledged tattoos on skin.»

Thank you guys 🙂
