More than twenty years after its creation, my Game Boy Advance SP Tribal Edition is still making waves!
Today, Everyeye.it dedicated an article to this special console I designed in 2004 for Nintendo, describing it as “the tattooed console everyone wanted in 2004”. I fondly remember that time: I collaborated with Nintendo and Leo Burnett agency to create tribal tattoo designs on the outer shell and button panel, producing a limited edition distributed worldwide. It wasn’t just a gaming device, it became a status symbol for young people back then; apparently, anyone who owned one was the coolest kid at school!

The article looks back at the bold advertising campaign, with TV spots and print ads that broke away from Nintendo’s usual family-friendly image, and highlights how it’s now a collector’s item, fetching up to €300 for examples in perfect condition. It’s great to see that my work has stood the test of time.
