A black and grey tattoo back piece.
Working in small steps is not the best way to create memorable tattoos.
Well, one can get a tattoo and expand it at a later stage of course, but it’s never the best option, there are too many variables, too many adaptations, too many compromises with previous work and so on.
But if the client doesn’t feel ready there is little one can do, and in February 2012 this guy only felt ready for the warrior.
It took him another three years before he was ready to add the background and three more to decide to complete the back.
If I had known that his intention was to tattoo his whole back and he would have given me the chance to work on the full project right from the start, I would have definitely designed the whole piece differently. Although I still find it to be pleasant and overall it’s still a work well done.
